I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your family out to the University of Minnesota Homecoming celebration the weekend of October 17 and 18. The Gophers take on Purdue at 11 am on Saturday. As usual, the homecoming parade will be held on Friday the 17th starting at 7PM and go east down University Ave. Please join us at the chapter house for a family friendly event that night during the parade. The Twin Cities Alumni Chapter will provide an array of non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks, but feel free to bring an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage of your choosing and hang out with fellow alumni. The festivities will continue after the parade as many alumni will stay to socialize with their brothers and meet the current actives.
Family friendly events will kickoff on Saturday at 8 AM with build your own omelet and bloody bars, along with coffee, juice, and rolls. Throughout the weekend we will sell raffle tickets and host a silent auction to raise money for the Twin Cities Delta Chi Scholarship fund. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be provided. The silent auction and prize drawing will start at 1030 am. The game starts at 11 am; if you do not have tickets, alumni are encouraged to continue the day’s festivities at a local watering hole nearby as we usually do!

The last weekend of September will be the U of MN Gopher Homecoming. The Gophers will face Iowa in the battle for Floyd of Rosedale. The parade will be held on Friday the 27th starting at 7PM and go East down University Ave. Feel free to bring a beverage of your choosing and hang out with fellow alumni. Many will be bringing our kids to see the parade as well, I’m sure several of us will be hanging in the Alumni Chamber through the evening. Please join us!
Saturday will kick off at 10AM with a build your own bloody bar, coffee, N/A’s and juice provided along with some pastries and muffins etc. Lunch will be served at noon and we are roasting a 150# pig starting at 3AM. Game time is 2:30 and if you do not have tickets the alumni are encouraged to continue the day’s festivities at a local watering hole nearby as we usually do!
The Scholarship Foundation will again be hosting the annual fundraiser raffle / silent auction with ticket sales both Friday and Saturday. Word is we’ll have a Gopher hockey jersey signed and another by Darby Hendrickson up for silent auction! Just a reminder we have the monthly happy hour this Thursday the 5th of September at 5PM. We will be meeting up at the Town Hall Brewpub on the West Bank by the U of MN campus.
At 6PM the Scholarship Group will get together and we’ll also discuss the plans for the fast approaching U of MN homecoming onSaturday September 28th. We will be having pre and post game festivities for all details to rollout in the next week. We are thinking pig roast… you don’t want to miss this!

On Friday and Saturday, October 12th and 13th the U of M will Celebrate Homecoming. The entire weekend will be on a BYOB basis with N/A’s and mixers with ice provided. Any questions about this, please feel free to contact me. We will also be selling tickets for the Annual Scholarship Raffle and would be happy to sell you some chances to win via our online donation station. More info to follow regarding the prizes and ticket cost.
To kick the weekend off at 6PM on Friday the 12th we will welcome alumni with appetizers provided through Kevin Martinez (MN ’97) who now owns The Rack Bar and Grille in Burnsville www.therackbar.com He also mentioned bringing some servers to help out, it’s worth the trip and I’m sure you’ll thank me later.

Following the parade at about 8 – 8:30 we will have some entertainment provided by our one and only Hans Okerstrom (MN ’92) with his band High Octane. www.high-octane-mn.com These guys seriously rock the house and their playlist is sure to satisfy all ages!

It’s OK if you can’t make it on Friday, we’ll be having the omelet chef back again starting around 8AM to cook for you. Custom, made to order omelets and basic breakfast beverages including orange juice and coffee to pregame. At 10:30 we’ll be doing the scholarship raffle drawings and have the game available to watch on the big screens if you don’t plan to buy tickets to the game.
It’s going to be a great weekend, now do yourself a favor and reach out to 5 of the guys you have not seen in a while and forward this on. Our active chapter has 34 members and 23 associate members, the time for Delta Chi MN to shine is clearly upon us and we appreciate your support.
