U of M celebrates 120 years on April 14th from 5 to 9PM at the chapter house!

I am excited to announce the upcoming event to celebrate the U of M’s 120th founders day on April 14th 2012 at the U of M chapter house at 1601 University Ave SE in Minneapolis!

We will be having a large selection of appetizers and N/A beverages and mixers available to all who attend and ask that you bring any alcoholic beverages you wish to consume in order to comply with Risk Mgt. policies. Some of us plan to bring a special scotch or homebrew to share and encourage you to join us in the sampling as well! Please RSVP to me via facebook, phone or email so we can plan accordingly.

I expect almost 75 alumni and 30 active members to visit the event through the evening.
At 6:30 there will be another opportunity to gather everyone for a memorial ceremony like last year and celebrate the lives of our brothers who have recently passed and then the Alumni Ceremony for any alumni who have not yet participated in this ceremony that recognizes our obligations as a brother of the fraternity following graduation.

Hope to see you there!

ITB,
Matthew Johnson

Now accepting your tax deductable and charitable donation!

Dear Twin Cities Area Delta Chi Alumni,

As we celebrate the holiday season, I wanted to call your attention to the recently incorporated Twin Cities Area Delta Chi Fraternity Scholarship Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2011 as a non-profit 501c(3) corporation to raise, manage, and distribute funds in the form of scholarships to local undergraduate members of the Delta Chi Fraternity. The Foundation recently received its determination letter from the IRS and all donations received after August 2011 are fully tax-deductible. We will soon send out additional information about how to deduct your donation from your income taxes.

As you may recall, we have informally raised funds for scholarship for the last few years primarily through raffles and other fundraisers at homecoming, Founder’s Day, and other alumni gatherings. This spring, a group of alumni met and decided it would be a good idea to formalize this process in the form of a foundation so that we could obtain non-profit status to allow for tax-deductibility of donations and to contribute to growing an ongoing endowment fund to support future scholarships over time.

The Delta Chi Educational Foundation (DCEF), operated by International Headquarters, serves a similar need and many of us contribute to that organization as well. However, the Twin Cities Area Foundation allows us to focus our contributions at a local level, which is not possible with the DCEF which serves all chapters of Delta Chi nationally.

Many of you have already given generously to the Foundation through earlier activities. We have already raised over $3,000 toward our goal of $5,000 this year to support scholarships for deserving local undergraduate brothers. We appreciate your past support and ask that you please consider us in your charitable giving plans for the balance of 2011 and keep us in mind as you plan your giving for 2012.

Donations can be made securely online through the Foundation’s WePay site at: https://www.wepay.com/x2l7gdk or by check to the Foundation treasurer Sean Barrett at: 3543 Rhode Island Ave S, St Louis Park, MN 55426.

Thanks for your support. Have a happy holiday season.

In The Bond,
